Group: Open Space Location:  Cleary's Gates Employment status: Permanent, Full-time Classification: Municipal Trade Level 1 (qualified) /Municipal Employee Level 4 (pre-qualified) Agreement: Hobart City Council Enterprise Agreement 2021 Salary range: $70,532 pa (qualified)  / $66,115 to $67,849 pa (pre-qualified) + 13% superannuation.

About the role As part of your role, you'll collaborate with the broader team responsible for caring for the City's tree population.
This includes risk management and strict adherence to council policies, procedures, and Work Health and Safety regulations.
A deep understanding of the environmental impact and historical importance of trees within the Council area is crucial.
Role accountabilities include:  You'll operating different types of machinery and equipment.
This role involves assisting with site and traffic management to uphold site safety standards.
You maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to asset management.
Be mindful of the environmental impact and historical significance of trees within the City of Hobart's Council area.
Your responsibilities include removing tree and garden waste, which includes tasks like pruning and bracing of trees to maintain tree health and stability.
Learn more about the role in the position description: Arborist Position Description Qualification Pathway The City of Hobart requires Arborists to hold a Certificate III in Arboriculture.
However, we recognise the diverse skills and experience that are valuable in this field and offer a supported pathway for suitable candidates to become qualified.
Successful candidates who are willing to work towards obtaining the Certificate III will receive support from the City, including: paid employment as a Pre-Qualified Arborist, study assistance, including paid study leave and course fees, in line with the City's Learning and Development Policy, tailored study pathways with our partner Registered Training Organisations, a guaranteed pathway to a Qualified Arborist position upon obtaining the qualification within the required timeframes.
About you We are seeking a candidate with expertise in arboriculture and practical experience in tree removal and maintenance activities.
Additionally, you should have a comprehensive understanding of diverse landscapes, including bushland, gardens, streets, and reserves, with a focus on high-significance and high-profile areas.
In addition to your knowledge and experience, the following qualifications and licenses are essential:  Certificate III in Arboriculture (qualified arborist) or a willingness to obtain, with relevant combination of skills and experience (pre-qualified Arborist), Current Medium Rigid Driver's Licence, Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card) and Provide First Aid Certification (HLTAID011) and Tree Faller (advanced or intermediate) is desirable but not essential.
