The APS5 Officer and APS6 Advisor roles in the Communication and Media Section work closely both within and across their teams to help deliver a high-quality communication service.
The roles are responsible for providing external and internal communication advice and support for the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) and the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC).
The External Communication Team is responsible for positioning both the ACIC and AIC externally through media management, communication about specific projects, and the management of our online presence (including ACIC website and ACIC and AIC social media channels).
Key responsibilities: Contribute to the development and implementation of projects within the agency's overarching external communication strategy.
Manage the agency's social media presence, develops governance materials to enhance social media capability, and oversees the creation of engaging content for various audiences.
Engage professionally with the ACIC executive and ministerial offices on media matters, including issues management and identification of opportunities.
The Internal Communication Team is responsible for implementing the ACIC's internal communication strategy, coordinating content for the monthly internal newsletter and weekly email bulletin, updating the intranet via a content management system, supporting executive communication, and assisting management of internal events.
Key responsibilities: Contribute to the development and implementation of projects within the agency's overarching internal communication strategy.
Develop and maintain relationships with internal clients and project teams to draft communication plans and products to help them meet their objectives.
Manage the agency's intranet, including governance, content creation, compliance with agency guidelines, and uses analytics to monitor performance and drive improvement.
Our ideal candidate To be successful in this role, as an APS Level 5 communication professional, you will demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes: You possess a passion for effective communication along with an eagerness to learn and contribute across various team functions.
You are able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
You can prepare communication products in line with the agency's writing style guide and tailored to the intended audiences.
You have the ability to work productively in a small team, managing multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively prioritising your own time.
You are comfortable performing a range of administrative tasks, including monitoring team inboxes and participating in team rosters for social media moderation, website and intranet updates, and media on-call.
You have a minimum of one year's experience in a related field.
In addition to the above, to be successful in the APS Level 6 role, you will also demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes: You have the ability to proactively identify, escalate and address emerging issues and opportunities.
You understand the work environment and can work autonomously on complex communication tasks.
You have a minimum of 3 years' experience in a related field.
Essential qualifications Tertiary qualifications in communication or a related field.
Desirable skills Comprehensive knowledge of social media platforms (External Communication roles).
Digital accessibility (both roles).
Eligibility Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
Security Clearance - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity.
Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
