If so, we are looking for multiple APS 6 Technology Specialists positions within Navy Engineering Branch across several disciplines, which include:
Defensible Security (ICT/Cyber)
Data Networks (ICT/Cyber)
EMSEC Information Security
APS 6 Technology Specialists are accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex technological specialist work within an integrated workforce.
They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
Initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.
They will provide detailed technical and professional advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
Coaching or leading a team and be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows.
They are expected to be capable of building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit.
They may exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes.
About our Team Navy Engineering is the trusted entity responsible for the provision of specialist engineering expertise needed to develop, deliver, and sustain maritime capability.
The application of this engineering expertise is a critical enabler across the entire lifecycle of maritime assets (cradle to grave) and contributes to the following business outcomes:
Enable navy to comprehend and understand the effectiveness of complex technical capabilities that contribute to defence of the nation.
Identification, quantification & management of risks to acquisition, sustainment and operation of maritime capabilities.
Informed decision making and allocation of resources (ensuring navy is an intelligent informed customer and owner/operator)
Knowledge management that captures and maintains technical knowledge (lesson learnt) for efficient and effective use across existing and future programs of work.
To achieve these business outcomes the following core services, frame the broad scope of specialist engineering activities and functions delivered by Navy Engineering teams:
Develop, identify, apply, measure and advise on Navy's materiel requirements.
Identify and contribute to design and implementation of solutions (working with industry and other parts of defence to remediate issues and new system designs to meet changing needs).
Management of technical risks through assessment, analysis and advising on effective treatment options.
Support development of key materiel and engineering policies that codify Navy's application of good engineering practices.

Our Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for Technology Specialist will be able to lead a small team, ensure compliance, and support the delivery of Navy's capability through a demonstrated knowledge of implementing and assessing test and trial programs.
The successful candidate will maintain a strong focus on quality and communication while promoting a learning culture to drive continuous improvement.
Defensible Security (ICT/Cyber) – Knowledge and experience of conducting cyber assurance, incident response, and risk assessments for complex ICT and Industrial Control Systems using international Cyber Security standards and frameworks.
Data Networks (ICT/Cyber) – Knowledge and experience in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting; network vender certification, expertise in routing, switching, virtualisation, software defined networking, and working with Linux Operation System.
EMSEC Information Security – Knowledge and experience in information security, with a focus on Emanation Security (EMSEC) and TEMPEST, electromagnetic radiation and its potential security risks, ability to conduct EMSEC assessments, compliance regulation, and implement security measures.
As an APS 6 Technology Specialist, you will have some of the following key additional duties to deliver complex technical functions:
