Working autonomously, the solo position is responsible for designing, drafting and manufacturing test pieces, standards, and other support equipment, in a range of materials including aluminium, steel, carbon fibre composites and plastics to very fine tolerances.
You will produce engineering drawings, reference standards, tooling and support equipment using Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacture software tools. You will work with aircraft components to manufacture test pieces and assist the Engineering team develop testing procedures.
You are expected to conduct Electrical Discharge Machine and Computer Numerical Control milling operations as well as operate a range of machine shop equipment including a lathe, 3D printers, scanner, hand tooling and a surface grinder.
You are expected to manage your own work, regularly interact with stakeholders, communicate effectively, document work outcomes and maintain the workshop machines.
You will be able to implement robust design and production controls, work independently with limited management oversight.
