The Role

The Staff Officer to the Director General is a pivotal administrative role, tasked with ensuring efficient management of the Director General's office.
This position involves handling complex scheduling, coordinating high-level meetings, and managing communications.
The Staff Officer also prepares documents, oversees project progress, and ensures that all administrative tasks align with strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities include acting as a liaison between the Director General and other Branches, managing data and information, and supporting the Director General in decision-making processes.
This role is crucial for maintaining organisational effectiveness and enabling the Director General to focus on strategic leadership.
About our Team

Explosive Ordnance Branch (EOB) leads the management of Defences explosive ordnance (EO) and provides assurance that EO is being managed efficiently and effectively.
This includes the delivery of EO services to the Australian Defence Force (ADF), including storage, distribution and governance.
Furthermore, EOB manages the EO safety regime and provides EO weapon system proof, test and evaluation services to Defence.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as the Staff Officer will prepare documents, manage correspondence, and act as a liaison between the Director General and other Branches and stakeholders.
They should be comfortable working with diverse teams and capable of fostering strong relationships across the Department to facilitate the flow of information and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
Proficiency in project management and a keen understanding of organisational dynamics are crucial.
The candidate should be proactive, able to anticipate needs, and initiate appropriate actions to support the Director General's agenda.
Experience with handling confidential information and making informed decisions under pressure is also vital.
