The Section operates in the context of a postal sector that is undergoing rapid transformation and responding to changes in technology, consumer preferences and markets, including the growth of e-commerce. Once based around letters as a form of communication, the sector is increasingly driven by parcel delivery and has more competitors than ever.The Postal International Engagement team is a small, high performing team within the Postal Policy Section which engages with stakeholders to formulate Australia's policy positions on international postal matters. The team ensures Australia's postal policy delivers on Australian Government priorities, such as supporting our partners in the Pacific to participate in relevant international postal fora and build their capabilities, and improving gender equality in the postal sector.We are looking for a Senior Policy Officer to analyse and develop policy to support our international engagement on postal matters. In taking on this exciting opportunity, you will represent Australia in international fora including the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and the Asian-Pacific Postal Union (APPU). You will work closely and proactively with colleagues in the department and across Government to develop policy positions, and think on your feet to identify and influence emerging issues during international meetings. You will also work with Australia Post to understand its international business.This position requires an NV1 clearance.
