The APS6 Risk & Standards Lead is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex risk identification and analysis work within an integrated workforce.
They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
The APS6 Risk & Standards Lead will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work.
They will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.
They will provide detailed risk identification and analysis technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
The APS6 Risk & Standards Lead may be a team coach or lead a team and be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows.
They are expected to be capable of building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit.
They may exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes.

About our Team
The establishment of the Joint Position, Navigation & Timing Directorate (JPD) delivers an integrated approach towards the unique and complex ADF PNT capability.
The JPD integrated campaigning approach involves partnerships across all domains, whole of Australian government, international partners, science and technology, academia and industry.
Through Joint Project 9380 Assured PNT, the Directorate is providing the ADF PNT focal point to prepare, collaborate, and transition PNT information and capabilities for the ADF.

The APS6 Risk & Standards Lead is responsible for maintaining and coordinating risk management documentation, including risk management plans and risk registers, and administering training workshops.
The role involves reviewing compliance with Defence policies and procedures, applying professional expertise to enhance risk management processes, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders and dependent projects to understand their expectations and concerns to address risk management and issues.
The duties of the APS6 Risk & Standards Lead include: Coordinate the maintenance of risk management documentation including risk management plans, risk registers and the risk database. Administer and contribute to risk management training and workshops as required. Review risk management and PNT standards practices and documents to confirm compliance with Defence policy and procedures. Apply internal and external professional knowledge and experience to improve risk management processes and practices. Engage with internal and external stakeholders and dependent projects to understand their expectations and concerns to address risk management and issues. Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities. Interpret and coordinate the currency and accuracy of risk management and PNT standards information including progress in relation to risk treatment activities. Recommend approaches for risk identification, analysis, treatment and control, using expertise to improve risk management practices and to identify common and strategic risks and issues. Has the expertise to undertake objective, systematic analysis and can draw accurate conclusions based on information gathered from participants in the risk management process. Provide advice on the application of risk management policy and procedures. Maintain and review the PNT Standards library. Support PNT Operational Field Activities by assisting the JPD Operations and Technical team conduct thorough Risk and RADHAZ Assessments prior to field activities.
