About the role: Seeking a Project Support Officer to support the Project Manager and broader team in developing the department's Data Strategy 2025-29. They will also assist the Director of Data Strategy and Policy in performing other work of the section as required. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to contribute to the conversation around how the department can improve the way it uses data to enable its vision of Connecting Australians, Enriching Communities and Empowering Regions. You will provide project support services to the Data Strategy development project and work to ensure that an endorsed strategy is ready for release in early 2025. The work involves: Establishing a clear vision and defining objectives through extensive stakeholder engagement Developing and costing a long-term plan to meet the objectives Obtaining clearance and endorsement for the new strategy by senior leaders Strategy release and promotion Your duties may include, but are not limited to: Assisting the Project Manager in planning and organising Data Strategy development activities, contract management, stakeholder management, procurement, and assurance Planning meetings and stakeholder workshops Preparing agendas, writing minutes, supporting the chair at meetings Coordinating document reviews and approvals Providing input to reporting and briefing processes Managing project information in the records management system Contributing to a positive team culture Contributing to the broader work of the section as required. Essential Criteria Previous experience in a similar role, ideally working on Commonwealth projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, fit for purpose documents and other communications within tight deadlines. A high level of organization and time management skills with the ability to adapt and respond promptly to changing and competing priorities at short notice. Strong stakeholder relationship building and management skills. Strong problem-solving capabilities, initiative and ability to think laterally and propose solutions while demonstrating sound judgement. Commitment to a positive, productive, and inclusive workplace culture. Understanding of the role of data in supporting and informing departmental activities. Desirable Criteria Qualifications in project management related disciplines. Qualifications or experience working in data related fields.
