The Role The Maintenance Coordinator provides strategic planning and integration of all internal and external activities affecting the maintenance and support of the local ATM systems and facilities. The Maintenance Coordinator provides in-depth technical advice up to the Maintenance Commander and Senior Engineering Office while also mentoring down to Maintenance Managers and Trade Supervisors on complex issues with Aviation Support Systems. The Maintenance Coordinator will also provide management oversight of maintenance staff rostering and professional development (training and authorisation). The duties of a Maintenance Coordinator in Defence include the following:

Producing maintenance forecasts and associated works plans.
Producing and maintaining the Unit Maintenance Plan.
Allocation of tasks to Maintenance Supervisors.
Coordination of external maintenance activities and agencies.
Maintenance brief preparation and delivery.
System serviceability and availability reporting.
Communicating with Operations personnel.
Maintenance Deviation, Special Technical Instruction, Modification, and Deferred Defect
Assurance of Configuration Management.
Scheduling of Compliance and Assurance tasks.
Maintenance flight staff leave management (approval).
Individual Authorisation Plan management.
Applicants deemed suitable with exceptional skills, experience or expertise may be eligible for an Individual Flexibility Arrangement (IFA) in accordance with the IFA provisions of the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement 2024. This may include additional remuneration and/or the variation of other conditions. In these cases, total remuneration will comprise of base salary + IFA additional remuneration + superannuation. About our Team 453 Squadron Maintenance Team in East Sale (Vic) delivers critical support to Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations by maintaining and managing Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) equipment systems. These systems include radar, radios, navigation aids and communication network systems in support of Defence and Civilian ATC. The East Sale maintenance team is comprised of 16 members. The Maintenance Coordinator will work for a Maintenance Commander and have two Maintenance Managers report to them as part of a mixed team of RAAF and APS personnel.
