$91,702 - $104,753 + up to 15.4% Superannuation Adelaide – SA, Canberra – ACT, Melbourne CBD – VIC The Role As the APS 6 Joint Position Navigation and Timing Technical Lead, you will be required to: Lead a team, allocate work, resources and tasks, set work area priorities, develop strategies and evaluate business outcomes.
Accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes, share own expertise with others and guide and mentor less experienced employees.
Perform complex technical activities and associated tasks working to agreed priorities and outcomes.
Accountable for exercising assigned technical authorities and any Technical Regulatory Authority delegations.
Demonstrate and apply knowledge and experience to develop and review technical packages, including Risk assessments.
Apply technical knowledge and experience to identify risks and uncertainties and take these into account in planning, decision making and priority setting.
Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, actively participate in team work and motivate and mentor developing technicians.
Tailor communication style and language to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Assess technical packages including scoping, planning and reviewing of packages and provide recommendations for consideration.
Assess technical packages, reports, processes and product and equipment performance to meet specified requirements, provide recommendations for continuous improvement and implement corrective actions.
Ensure safety aspects of Defence capability are considered and incorporated into technical activities and tasks.
Manage technical knowledge of relevant processes, packages, product and equipment About our Team The establishment of the Joint Position Navigation and Timing Directorate (JPD) delivers an integrated approach towards the unique and complex ADF Position Navigation and Timing (PNT) capability.
The JPD integrated campaigning approach involves partnerships across all domains, whole of Australian government, international partners, science and technology, academia and industry.
Through Joint Project 9380 Assured PNT, the Directorate is providing the ADF PNT focal point to prepare, collaborate, and transition PNT information and capabilities for the ADF.
JPD roles include: Project Management Office (Finance, Integrated Logistics, Risk Management, Help Desk).
External Engagement (Industry, Academia, International, WoAG).
Science & Technology Plan Management.
PNT Resilience Analysis.

Our Ideal Candidate The APS 6 Technical Lead will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work.
They will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.
They will provide detailed technical management technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
The APS 6 Technical Lead is accountable to lead a team, set work priorities, manage workflow and resources.
They will build team capacity through coaching and feedback and will review and develop the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit.
They will exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes.
The APS 6 Technical Lead will have considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex or difficult issues.
They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
