A new role awaits The Audit Branch is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team in the APS6 Internal Audit position.
The Audit Branch provides independent and objective assurance and consulting to the Agency.
The Branch provides a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the organisations governance, risk management and internal control processes Where you can add value The role involves developing the Risk and Control Matrix (RACM) including work programs for assessments and process flowcharts to support key processes, associated risks and controls in respect to the assurance and advisory engagements in line with NDIA Internal Audit (IA) methodology.
Further responsibilities of the role include: Undertaking operational, financial, and corporate audit (testing) activities by interviewing, collecting, and examining evidence against agreed engagement criteria in line with NDIA IA methodology.
Documenting evidential observations, linking to assessment objectives, and assisting with drafting of audit findings/issues to improve governance, risk management and internal controls.
Contributing to the preparation of internal audit reporting which outlines findings/issues, observations.
Conducting follow up activities to evaluate sufficiency of evidence for closing issues in line with NDIA IA methodology.
Contributing to reporting for the Board, the Audit & Risk Committee and Management.
Supporting the Agency with Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) annual financial, performance and performance statements audits.
Enough about us, let's talk about you We are seeking a candidate with at least 5 years of experience in auditing, risk management, and controls.
You should have hands-on experience in conducting internal audits and a keen eye for detail.
Strong analytical skills will be important for your success in this role.
We value effective communication skills.
You should be adept at maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders.
Your ability to write clear and concise reports in plain English will be essential for effective communication.
This position is within the professional job stream.
The officer must be progressing to or possess relevant academic qualifications with membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA), Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) or other equivalent professional finance bodies (or holding equivalent finance related post graduate qualifications).

A merit pool will be established that may be used to fill similar positions (ongoing and non-ongoing) within the next 18 months.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
