Salary: $91,702 - $104,753 + up to 15.4% Superannuation
Location: Fairbairn - ACT

The RoleManage information and records management activities in accordance with the Archives Act 1983, relevant legislation and Defence policies and procedures. Manage a team and allocate resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes. Liaise with stakeholders in relation to sometimes complex or difficult issues involving a considerable level of engagement. Manage the participation of Space Command in a series of sometimes high profile, high visibility events and activities, including but not limited to Conferences, Visits and Showcases. Support JCG MECC team to provide specialist advice on the design, development and implementation of a range of internal and external communication and media products and activities.

SPACECOMD has been established to prepare space power to secure Australia's interests in competition and conflict. Its vision is to assure Australian civil and military access in space, integrated across Government, and in concert with allies, international partners and industry. The Chief of Staff Branch in SPACECOMD manages a range of Command wide business functions and is looking for a high performing APS 6 Information and Communications Manager to join our team, in this integrated and high tempo environment. On-the-job and formal training will be provided.

Our Ideal CandidateOur ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strong skills and experience in:

Managing complex information and records management work within an integrated workforce.
Managing and organising events in a range of environments and sizing.
Having and maintaining a well-developed understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
Managing and leading a team including organising workflow and making independent decisions relating to area of responsibility.
Interpreting and applying legislative, policy and regulatory requirements.
Undertaking specialist research and analysis, conducting reviews, assessments and investigations and performing clerical and administrative support work to achieve results.
Engaging and communicating with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
Demonstrating and applying the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to provide advice and services for a range of complex to very complex activities.
Designing, developing and implementing a range of internal and external communication products and activities.


The candidate will have the following demonstrated attributes:

Building/maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.
Strong planning/time management skills, particularly prioritisation and critical thinking.
Judgement and a bias for action in driving outcomes, including problem solving and flexibility.
Skilful communicator (both written and verbal).
