The Electromagnetic Warfare and Intelligence Systems Joint and Air Systems Program Office (EWIS J&A SPO), within the EWIS Branch of the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), is seeking applications from talented and experienced ICT Security Specialists to work on the and Intelligence and Air program.
The duties of an APS6 ICT Security Specialist occupation in Defence include the following: Accountable to conduct security risk assessment and provide advice and guidance on the application and operation of procedural security controls.
Responsible for ensuring that all identified breaches in information security are promptly managed according to Defence policies and procedures.
Understand the security features and capabilities of current Defence and industry accepted hardware and software products and provide advice to stakeholders.
Use experience to explain systems security and the strengths and weaknesses that are relevant across Defence.
Tailor communication style and language to provide guidance on security strategies to manage identified risks.
Facilitate appropriate direction for the team by clearly communicating goals and objectives.
Interpret security policy and contribute to the development of standards and guidelines that comply with Defence policy and procedures.
Analyse, resolve identified security incidents in accordance with established procedures, and recommend any required actions.
Lead the application and compliance of security operations procedures and review information systems for actual or potential breaches in security.
Build and sustain effective working relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities.
About our Team The EWIS J&A SPO undertakes the acquisition and through-life-support of assigned Joint and Air Electronic Warfare (EW) Capabilities used by the Australian Defence Force.
It delivers countermeasures development and validation services and supports a number of projects being delivered to the Intelligence and Security Group.
The EWIS J&A SPO are comprised of members of diverse skills and disciplines who work together to provide a wide variety of activities undertaken by EWIS.

You will be part of the CA36 Sustainment team and the ICT Security Specialist will support technical and sustainment activities to ensure quality, and compliance with appropriate technical delegations commensurate with relevant legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
You will engage with stakeholders, investigate, report, develop, evaluate, advise and implement policies, processes, procedures, practice and manage resources specific to assurance and data specifications to support Defence capability.

Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate will have: Experience working in ICT Security or similar roles.
Tertiary training applicable to ICT Security (inclusive of Certificates/Diplomas etc) Strong critical thinking skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Good understanding of various security frameworks and standards (ISM, PSPF, DSPF etc.).
Understand a broad range of technologies to be able to provide guidance, advice and implementations.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proactive nature and ability to anticipate issues in the capability or with stakeholders.
Ability to work in a small team unsupervised and to drive own goals.
Ability to travel to attend courses to gain a greater understanding of equipment sets.
