This position is available as an s26 transfer (temporary) or a non-ongoing engagement for an initial term of 6 to 12 months. There is a possibility of extension or permanency pending approvals.
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Workplace Relations and Performance the 2 x APS6 HR Advisors will work collaboratively to support the role out and implementation of the organisations new Enterprise Agreement (EA). While collaboration is important the successful applicants will be specialists in the below areas:
One of the APS6 positions will focus on performance management, supporting underperformance cases, abandonment of employment, and working with managers to educate and implement best practices in prevention.The second APS6 position will focus on policy development, ensuring policies are up-to-date, legally compliant, and aligned with both operational needs and entitlements.About You:Your expertise will be essential in ensuring effective management of workplace relations matters. You'll work closely with managers and employees to prevent and resolve grievances, consult with unions, and navigate employment conditions.
Key Responsibilities:Provide high-level advice on industrial relations issues, including dispute resolution, grievance handling, and code of conduct investigations.Case-manage staff complaints and conduct or coordinate thorough investigations into alleged breaches of the APS Values & Code of Conduct.Provide advice on solutions that are fair, impartial and would withstand independent scrutiny.Assist in conciliation processes between parties involved in workplace disputes. Assist with cases related to unfair dismissal, general protection, and discrimination.Oversee performance management processes, including coaching and mentoring managers dealing with underperformance and probationary issues.In partnership with other HR team members, contribute to the development, implementation and review of HR policies and procedures.Stay informed about changes in employment legislation and industry trends.Qualifications and Experience:Cultural capability i.e demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the ability to engage authentically and respectfully.Relevant tertiary qualifications in human resources, law, or a related field.Demonstrated experience in a similar role (minimum 2 years).Expert knowledge of employment laws, legislation, regulations, Enterprise Agreements, and workplace policies.Excellent communication and negotiation skills.Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with stakeholders.This is an identified position and Indigenous jobseekers are encouraged to apply.
