The Role
As an APS 6 Financial Advisor within the Project Finance Governance Directorate you will be accountable for the following:

Providing qualitative and quantitative data analysis with a focus on the presentation of data to feed into strategic management reporting. Understanding and implementing practical governance requirements, risk oversight, carrying out assurance and facilitating compliance with the financial management framework.Liaising with a broad range of stakeholders including auditors, business areas, procurement and systems specialists, contractors and members of the military. Providing sound practical advice and guidance to stakeholders on asset assurance activities. Understanding, applying, aligning Defence's mission and business objectives to financial reporting and asset management. Providing advice on project accounting policy and implementing an associated compliance testing, reporting and remediation program. Aspects of this will include testing of project accounting documents, expenditure recognition and classification, reconciliations, asset cost allocation models, asset impairment reviews and financial aspects of project closureProviding clear and consistent communication, managing expectations and setting clear performance and behavioural standards. $91,702 - $104,753 + up to 15.4% superannuationMelbourne CBD - VIC

Project Finance Governance Directorate team is accountable for policy advice, compliance assurance, conducting quality assurance checks on financial accounting activities and liaison with external auditors. 

The team's practical judgement and ability to provide professional advice allows multi-year billion-dollar projects to comply with key policies and ensure accurate reporting. Think liaising and carrying out assurance activities for projects delivering big, physical tangible assets like aircraft, ships, submarines plus a huge property portfolio, specialist military equipment, complex intellectual property and bespoke technology.
