Salary Range: $97,735 - $110,982 + Attractive Superannuation Contact Officer: Sally Dennington - ****** The Deputy Commissioner Tasmania represents the Minister, the Commissions and DVA in Tasmania.
This includes managing DVA's day to day relationship with a range of stakeholders including ex-service organisations, the broader ex-service community and individual veterans.
The Deputy Commissioner plays a key role in the identification and management of local issues, and as the senior departmental officer in Tasmania, provides pastoral care to all DVA staff in Tasmania.
As Assistant Secretary, the Deputy Commissioner is also responsible for the Portfolio Management Branch.
The Executive Officer is directly responsible to the Deputy Commissioner and is required to work effectively within a fast paced, high functioning small team environment.
The Executive Officer is required to work closely with the Deputy Commissioner and other respective departmental staff to generate, coordinate and prioritise competing tasks.
The Executive Officer will support the effective operation of Tasmanian Office and the Portfolio Management Branch.
They will be able to work closely with Assistant Secretaries, members of the Executive and Senior Leadership Group and departmental staff to generate, coordinate and prioritise competing tasks with limited timeframes.
The Executive Officer is required to demonstrate strong leadership and organisational change management abilities, sound judgement, flexibility, high-quality communication skills and strategic level thinking.
Duties Monitor and work closely with the Executive Assistant to ensure effective executive support is provided to the Deputy Commissioner and the branch.
Coordinate and prepare talking points, presentations, briefing papers, ministerial correspondence, meeting papers, client correspondence and other corporate documents to a high standard.
Support the relationship with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including veterans and their families, ex-service organisations, Electorate offices and state and territory government representatives.
Arrange, manage and provide secretariat support for high level meetings and events.
Undertake other tasks and develop and implement work processes as required.
Other duties as required.
Eligibility Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance.
The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
The successful candidate will be required obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance.

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to 23 months.
A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
