$91,702 - $104,753 + 10% BDCP + up to 15.4% Superannuation Brindabella Park - ACT The Role It's an exciting time to join Air Defence Systems Branch (ADSB), we are seeking professional, motivated and experienced APS 6 Engineers to provide support to AIR6500 Tranche 2.
Ideally the candidate is Canberra (ACT) based, however other locations will be considered if regular Defence Secret Network (DSN) access is available.

The duties of an APS 6 Engineer Professional - Systems occupation in Defence include the following (note: not all duties are required to be performed during a 12 month performance cycle): Perform critical and complex engineering activities in your technical field under broad direction including the development of Engineering documentation and supporting Engineering Gate Submission documentation.
Accountable for exercising assigned engineering authorities and any Technical Regulatory Authority delegations.
Apply engineering knowledge and experience to identify risks and uncertainties taking these into account when planning, decision making and priority setting.
Demonstrate systems engineering knowledge, providing advice and recommendations on the development of advancements to established engineering principles, techniques, methods and regulations.
Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, motivate and mentor developing engineers.
Assess technical and design packages including scoping, planning, reviewing, provide recommendations and contribute to the implementation of actions.
Evaluate delivered materiel meets requirements and legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks, provide recommendations and contribute to the implementation of actions.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP).
This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.

Our Ideal Candidate Successful candidates will be expected to develop engineering documentation and perform a broad range of engineering activities at a high standard.
Including requirements development, technical evaluation groups, engineering gate documentation required for submission (such as Function and Performance Specification (FPS), Test & Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP), Engineering Management Plan, System Safety documentation etc.), industry engagement, stakeholder engagement with Capability Manager and broader program resources.
Working within an integrated workforce consisting of Australian Public Service (APS) employees, Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and contractors to deliver Subject Matter Expert advice to projects and products across the Australian Defence Staff (ADS) Branch.
Successful candidates will operate within a fast paced and dynamic working environment, requiring flexibility and willingness to help other areas meet the deliverables for projects, products and Air Defence Systems Branch (ADSB) more broadly.
Previous experience in informal/formal leadership and mentoring is highly desirable.
Tranche 2 is delivering and developing within an agile framework, experience in delivery or associated tools is favourable.
