APS6 - Digital Product Engagement Officer - Strategy, Architecture & Cyber Organised within the Chief Operating Officer Group within the department, Information Technology (IT) Division's purpose is to connect people and technology, empowering the department to excel.
IT Division is responsible for the consolidated provision and support of stable and secure IT Systems, applications, and services to all department users across all States and Territories, including our Indian Ocean Territories and Norfolk Island, as well as supporting seven Ministerial offices, six Groups, and coordination with portfolio entities.
The division provides the digital collaboration and communications tools necessary to connect a geographically dispersed workforce and to optimise hybrid working arrangements.
We manage industry and public facing digital systems, deliver desktop services to over 2,200 staff, support over 30 office locations across Australia and oversee the department's cyber security capability.
The advertised position is to support a new function which provides business facing end user support function that will provide a key contribution to uplifting the digital literacy skills of the department.

What will you do?
As a Digital Product Engagement Officer for our suite of modern digital workplace collaboration tools, you'll be working with a team at the helm of innovation, managing releases of new digital products including AI assistants, advocating for end users and ensuring staff get the most out of the available technology.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Connecting with end users and supporting engagement activities – engaging with staff to understand their needs, pain points and aspirations to inform product roadmaps and initiatives to build digital literacy across the department.
Create and deliver training of individual tools, introduction to product while translating supplier information for the departmental community.
Coordinate organisational communications with the internal Organisational Change Management team.
Live maintenance of user guide materials including but not limited to: Intranet pages, user guides, in room guides, technical team support guides, standard operational procedures.
Market analysis – staying informed about industry trends and product developments and translating vendor roadmaps into implementation plans for our department that are aligned to business goals.
Feature prioritisation and backlog management – evaluating and prioritising new features based on impact, feasibility and user value and maintaining a well organised back log of features and enhancements for delivery.
Agile Delivery coordination – working closely with vendors and internal engineering, operations and organisational change management teams to release new features and drive adoption ensuring a strong focus on staff awareness, education and benefits realisation.
Support coordination of User Testing – gathering insights from users, stakeholders and data and using these to fine-tune our digital offerings ensuring they are useable, enjoyable and accessible.
While an understanding of digital product management would be an advantage, it is not essential for this role.

In this role you will be supported to build your product management skills through learning and development opportunities and working alongside leading industry product and customer experience teams.
There is also the opportunity to become a product expert and receive micro credentials from leading IT vendors in modern workplace tools such as Cisco WebEx and Microsoft 365.
As this is a newly established role, it will start with a very small team, however it is anticipated this will grow over time with the opportunity to recruit additional team members based on need.
