$91,702 - $104,753 + up to 15.4% Superannuation Brindabella Park - ACT The Role The APS 6 Digital Forensic Examiner is responsible, under limited direction, for the extraction, examination of and reporting on data from a range of personal electronic devices in support of Joint Military Police Investigations, using correct evidence handling and chain of custody techniques, in both a laboratory and a field environment. The APS 6 Digital Forensic Examiner will produce evidentiary reports on examination results, and will testify to those reports, both in Military and civilian courts. The APS 6 Digital Forensic Examiner will perform moderately complex research tasks to supplement evidentiary report writing, and will display an in-depth knowledge of digital device operating systems and database storage mediums. Short notice travel to support Military Police (MP) search warrants in Australia occurs on a semi-regular basis, and the APS 6 Digital Forensic Examiner will be able to conduct triage extraction and examination in difficult environments with limited direction. The APS 6 Digital Forensic Examiner will receive training and become a subject matter expert able to provide technical advice to MP investigators and other partner agencies. The role involves daily exposure to obscene, graphic, disturbing and abhorrent materials, and mental health support is provided and encouraged by Joint Military Police Unit (JMPU). About our Team The JMPU Digital Forensic Detachment (DFD) is the subject matter expert on forensic examination of electronic devices in the MP establishment. The DFD utilises industry-leading forensic tools and techniques to extract, examine and report on electronic data for military and criminal investigations, in both a laboratory setting and in field environments. Work undertaken by DFD is conducted in accordance with world-leading best practices from the Scientific Working Group on Digital Evidence, and in line with Australian legislative requirements, to ensure it meets the evidential requirements of legal proceedings, and DFD members testify in both Military and civilian courts. Our Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be able to perform in a high-pressure environment with a high level of detail with minimal supervision, be self-motivated to seek further education. The ideal candidate will also display robust mental and emotional maturity in a role of high exposure to disturbing materials. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable skills and experience in one or more of the following areas: Digital Forensics/Incident Response Computer Sciences Smartphone operating systems Forensic Sciences Government Investigations Formal digital forensic training is preferable, but not essential. #J-18808-Ljbffr
