$91,702 - $104,753 + 10% BDCP + up to 15.4% Superannuation Canberra - ACT, Laverton - VIC, Melbourne CBD - VIC, Sydney CBD - NSW The Role Within the Data Function an APS6 Data Analyst is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex data analysis work within an integrated workforce.
They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
An APS6 Data Analyst will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work.
They will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.
They will provide detailed data analysis technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and may contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
An APS6 Data Analyst will have considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex or sensitive issues.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP).
This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.

About our Team Enterprise Technology Operations Branch (ETOB) delivers quality ICT services to Defence in support of military operations and corporate business.
Our purposes and activities centre on supporting ICT operations and maintaining sustainable service levels to provide an effective ICT capability for our customers.
ETOB's role in supporting Joint Capabilities Group (JCG) is integral to the ADF's role in the protection and projection of national power.
Our role will enable Chief of Joint Capabilities (CJC) and Chief Information Officer (CIO) to provide Defence users with access to a secure, reliable and integrated information, communications and technology environment.
We are focused and committed to delivering the best ICT services, some of which include: Management of applications across information management, business information systems, security and identity domains; and Management the delivery of Platform Services to Defence and provide governance between the Centralised Processing Project (CP) to deliver software application hosting and data storage services.
Our Ideal Candidate The duties of an APS6 Data Analyst occupation in Defence include the following: Identify and undertake analysis to define, structure, solve and provide advice on complex data problems, including gathering and exploring data and meta-data from a variety of sources.
Understand and utilise analytical tools and techniques to define, structure and solve complex problems.
Develop and test user interfaces/experiences to achieve business outcomes.
Prepare, publish, and provide advice on complex data-based briefs, reports and advanced visualisations to inform Defence decision making.
Responsible for the ethical use of data and interpreting and complying with legislation, Defence policy and regulatory frameworks including data management requirements.
Responsible for contributing to the management of the risks associated with the use of data including balancing security and privacy against the benefits of collecting and sharing data.
Accountable for accurate and timely completion of work.
