Location: Canberra Position Type: Ongoing Salary: $90,199 - $101,745 About the role The Cyber Security Officer, reporting to the Assistant Director Cyber Security Operations is responsible for supporting the Agency's Cyber Security Operations (CSO) capability.
As part of the Cyber Security Team we: Govern through providing a strong cyber security culture through awareness and education Identify the assets and the associated security risks Protect implementing the controls Detect through the use of SIEM and vulnerability management cyber security evets Respond to and recover from Cyber incidents The CSO team is responsible for continuously monitoring, detecting and reporting on cyber security incidents and vulnerabilities to assess the level of threat to the agency, this includes risk identification and analysis.
This includes providing the technical expertise to manage the Security Information and Event management (SIEM) platform, vulnerability scanning systems and other cyber security capabilities.
Key responsibilities include (you may undertake some or all of the following): Management of the cyber security operations tool set, including SEIM platform, Vulnerability Scanning System, and Certificate management, Privileged Access Management, Multi-factor Authentication.
Analyse and respond to security events and alerts.
Undertake penetration testing.
Providing Cyber Security Advice to technical and non-technical staff.
Identification and mitigation of system vulnerabilities.
Produce and publish security education and awareness.
Assist with the development of cyber security related policies and procedures.
Assist the assistant director in the delivery of the Cyber Security Strategy.
Our ideal candidate To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes: Is well organised, self-motivated and details focused, with the ability to prioritise and multi-task to achieve business outcomes.
Has experience in a cyber security discipline as well as demonstrated experience supporting a team to achieve outcomes in the cyber security field.
Demonstrated experience in cyber security event and incident management.
Manages and actions tasking requests for the cyber security operations team.
Experience with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), Information Security Manual (ISM) or industry frameworks (NIST, ISO70001, CIS).
Communication effectively both internally and externally, as well as develops and maintains productive working relationships by sharing information and seeking feedback.
Provide accurate and specialised advice including anticipating problems and contributing to issues management.
Work with independence, subject to limited direction against established priorities, practices, and methodologies to deliver quality outcomes.
Desirable attributes Experience in administering systems for vulnerability management, centralised logging and event management and Privileged Access Management.
Experience in Penetration testing.
Experience in managing Digital Certificates and PKI infrastructure.
Experience in implementing Multi-factor Authentication.
Experience in threat hunting, vulnerability assessment and reporting.
Current or ability to attain academic or Industry qualifications in cyber security or related disciplines.
Eligibility Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
Security Clearance - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity.
Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
