We are seeking a high performing, motivated and enthusiastic APS 6 Configuration Officer (CO) to join the Pacific Patrol Boat Systems Program Office (PPBSPO) team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a team of experts across a unique work force consisting of Pacific Island Nations Crews, Australian Public Servants and contracted engineers.

In this role, you will contribute to providing engineering and sustainment services to the Pacific Maritime Security Program (PMSP), in the sustainment of the Guardian Class Patrol Boats (GCPB), Pacific Patrol Boats (PPB) and Small Landing Craft (SLC) External Maintenance Periods and defect rectification as required. Your sound configuration knowledge, communication and interpersonal skills will have a direct impact on Defence capability.

This role requires extensive configuration management experience, preferably from a maritime environment, to support activities that lead to high quality management of maritime configuration baselines. Proven experience in configuration Verification/Auditing, Status Accounting, and Change Management pillars is desirable.

The CO will effectively act as the configuration subject matter expert within PPBSPO and responsible for the provision of specialist configuration management advice. The CO will directly support the Chief Engineer in the conduct of Design Acceptance Authority Representative activities in support of PPBSPO products. The CO is expected to develop and maintain close working relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.

The CO will assure PPBSPO Technical Support Network configuration management compliance, and lead and manage maintenance of the PPBSPO (draft) Configuration Management Plan, associated Engineering Quality Management System (QMS), Plans and Work Instructions.

About our Team
Since the 1960s, Australia has undertaken a range of capacity-building and engagement activities in the South Pacific and Southeast Asia under the Defence Cooperation Program. The Centrepiece of Australia's Defence engagement in the South Pacific is the Pacific Patrol Boat (PPB) Program, which involved the gifting of 22 Pacific Class Patrol Boats between 1987 - 1997 and the current PPB replacement program, which will provide 22 new Guardian Class Patrol Boats to participating Pacific Island Countries.

Recognising that the boats are sovereign assets of the participating nations, Australia is committed to providing a range of engineering, technical and logistics support services to ensure the ongoing operational capability of the Pacific Patrol Boat fleet, which is provisioned through the Pacific Patrol Boat Systems Program Office.

Your role in the delivery of technical and configuration management services for the fleet provides a vital input to maintaining capability for Pacific Island Countries.
