The Business Intelligence Officer role sits within the Business Optimisation team whose primary purpose is to provide ongoing development and review of Training Force Systems enabling all personnel to deliver outcomes in the most effective manner to achieve Training Force's mission.
The team optimises strategies and practices to find efficient ways of working through improved workflows, frameworks and systems.
As the Business Intelligence Officer, you will use your initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.
You will derive insights using your technical skills, monitor and report on data trends and patterns and communicate the findings to relevant stakeholders effectively, using a hands-on, business partnering approach.
In this position you will play a key role in implementing and maintaining Business Intelligence systems, frameworks and tools, as well as strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
Reporting to the Deputy Director Business Optimisation, you will assist in driving the automation of the business processes towards ongoing improvement of work practices and Training Force's approach to data-driven decision making.
You will build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and be able to work in a small team in a multidisciplinary environment and roles with competing priorities.
Additionally, you will provide detailed professional advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
About our Team The Business Optimisation Team sits within the Deputy Commodore Training Directorate at Navy Training Force Headquarters.
The team provides business optimisation services to Training Force to enable timely, efficient and accurate decision-making.
The team aims to identify and implement new methods and processes that seek to redesign and streamline, ensuring a continual improvement cycle is in place.
This role reports to the Deputy Director Business Optimisation and is located at Training Force Headquarters, Campbell Park.
Our Ideal Candidate The Business Intelligence Officer is accountable under broad direction to strengthen the data analytics and visualisation capability within an integrated workforce.
They are expected to be capable of building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within the work unit.
You will have considerable expertise in the use of Business Intelligence tools and have strong communication skills both written and verbal, to convey results succinctly and with clarity.
You will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
To be successful in this role you will: Undertake analytic activities including data extractions and transformation; data analysis/visualisation; and development, testing and maintenance of analytical reports / dashboards.
Have a keen eye for detail; Have a high standard of written communication skills; Develop and maintain internal and external relationships with our stakeholders; Have technical expertise in Business Intelligence tools, especially PowerBI; Be able to work in a fluid environment by remaining flexible, agile and adaptable; Be committed to ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
