The Airports Branch oversees and provides government policy and regulatory advice on matters relating to 21 operational federal leased airports across Australia. The Branch undertakes effective and efficient regulation of federal leased airports to ensure the operations of airports, as nationally significant infrastructure, remain in the public interest. The Queensland Airports and Airport Building Control Section provides policy advice and regulatory oversight in relation to the five leased federal airports in Queensland (Brisbane, Gold Coast, Townsville, Archerfield and Mt Isa). The Section also administers the Parking Infringement Notices Scheme, under Part 4 of the Airport (Control of On-Airport Activities) Regulations 1997 and provides secretariat and administrative functions for the Brisbane Airport Community Airspace Advisory Board (AAB).
