APS 5 Policy Analyst – Budgets and Disability $55.24 per hour + super Canberra, Deakin12-month contract | Commencing on the 28th of October Hybrid with Flexible Work ArrangementsWeekly Pay The Organisation:
This Government body works with people with disability, providers, and the community to deliver nationally consistent, responsive, and effective regulation of service providers. They seek to uphold the rights of, and promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of people with disability receiving supports or services.

About the role:
The APS 5 Policy Analyst is a project-based position, playing a key role in supporting policy analysis, consultation, and strategic planning within an assigned IEP project area. The role will be focused on investigating the planning process, factors contributing to plan budgets and outcomes. Advice will be based on document review, stakeholder consultation, existing policies and legislation. The position will have a considerable level of contact with internal stakeholders from across the portfolio, and may have some external stakeholder engagement responsibilities, such as coordinating meetings and workshops.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: Conducting in-depth analysis of policies, reports, strategies, and program/project plans related to budgets and outcomesSupporting stakeholder consultations to gather insights on factors influencing scheme effectivenessContributing to the conceptual development and refinement of impact/evaluation modelling (non-technical)Preparing high-quality papers, briefings, reports, and other materials to communicate findings and recommendationsCoordinating and participating in meetings and workshops with both internal and external stakeholders About You:
You'll bring your background in policy analysis along with your interest and understanding of the disability sector as it relates to the role.

Key skills required for the role: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information from various sources.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare clear and concise reports and presentations.Proven stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.Demonstrated capacity to understand and work effectively within the context of the disability sector. Desirable skills to have for the role: Relevant tertiary qualification in social sciences, public policy, economics, or a related field.2-3 years of experience working in government or government consulting roles, preferably in areas related to social policy, disability services, or program evaluation.Understanding of budget processes and outcome measurements in government programs.
