APS 5 - International Engagement Policy Officer$83,706 - $89,659 + up to 15.4% superannuation The Role
International Engagement is an integrated core function and key tool for the Australian Government to achieve its overall strategic objectives. CASG has a critical and far reaching role in engaging other countries through a range of capability cooperation agreements and DEPSEC CASG's position as the National Armaments Director.

The role provides support to Ministers, DEPSEC CASG, NSSG, GWEO and Division Heads on engagement and international policy matters as they relate to acquisition and sustainment. The importance of international collaborations (including as a key contribution to capability), of delivering key policy input and the conduct of CASG partner engagement is growing.

This is an exciting, fast paced position that requires the successful applicant to support the coordination of key international dialogues for Defence. Regular engagement with senior managers and foreign Government officials will be undertaken, and the applicant will need to be comfortable and resourceful in this environment.

About our Team
The International Engagement and Foreign Military Sales Branch supports effective and efficient capability delivery in collaboration with Australia's International acquisition and sustainment partners. The team consists of three Directorates – International Engagement, Foreign Sourcing and Alliance Sustainment Support.

Our main responsibilities broadly include:


Building Australia's cooperation with international acquisition and sustainment partners.Optimising the FMS process flow across the capability lifecycle.Professionalising the foreign sourcing capability across all delivery groups and introducing mechanisms for process continuous improvement.Establishing mechanisms for delivery of AUKUS Pillar 2 initiatives, and supporting the implementation of export-licence-free arrangements.Supporting Alliance Sustainment mechanisms, including by developing solutions for maintenance, repair, overhaul and upgrade of allied assets in Australia. $83,706 - $89,659 + up to 15.4% superannuationBrindabella Park - ACT The Role

Our Ideal Candidate
You will have the ability to contribute to briefs such as Ministerial submissions, senior officer decision briefs and talking points on capability and policy matters. You will be able to understand, condense and align disparate briefing material into clear and concise briefing products for senior officers.

You will be able to organise and provide logistical and coordination support for high-level visits and meetings. 

You will enjoy working in a dynamic team environment, be resilient and collaborative. Our ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate:
