Aps5 Intelligence Analyst / International Desk, Canberra

Details of the offer

About the role
Joint Agency Operations (JAO) operates within the ACIC's Intelligence Operations Division. JAO is responsible for enabling collaborative intelligence operations against Australia's most significant Transnational Serious Organised Crime (TSOC) targets and is at the forefront of combatting global criminal networks targeting Australia.
As TSOC networks continually seek new ways and means to exploit the globalised criminal environment, JAO is challenged to establish operational relationships with both traditional and non-traditional partners, domestically and internationally, to drive innovative and creative strategies to identify, track, understand, and disrupt highly sophisticated and complex targets. JAO operates across strategic, operational, and tactical levels of engagement, bringing the right mix of people together at the right time to achieve highly-focused and impactful outcomes.
To enable the above, JAO manages the ACIC's offshore network. ACIC currently has deployed Liaison Officers (LO) and other staff in several countries. The role of the LO is to advocate for ACIC equities in their region by sharing criminal intelligence, brokering joint activities with partners, and enabling intelligence exchanges. By working collaboratively with international partners, ACIC LOs inform the agency on emerging criminal trends whilst working to have a disruptive impact on TSOC actors harming Australia and our allies.
The role of an Intelligence Analyst / International Desk involves collaborating with and providing intelligence support to LOs and other deployed staff in order to integrate the ACIC's offshore activities with domestic teams with a view to maximising the ACIC's ability to collaboratively disrupt TSOC threats. Intelligence Analysts produce timely bespoke intelligence products, respond to requests for information from partners and coordinate and manage regional JAO engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
