The role ensures that ADF mission planners and flight crew have access to up-to-date, relevant and accurate terminal procedures in digital format, for operations in Australia and abroad.You will encode terminal procedures in accordance with international standards (DAFIF, ARINC), formats unique to digital terminal procedures management. This involves translating the information presented on a terminal procedure chart into a format suitable for ingestion into applicable systems.AIS-AF's digital products are updated according to the global 28-day AIRAC cycle and are provided in a variety of data formats for use in aircraft flight management systems, flight simulators, and air traffic management applications.About our TeamAeronautical Information Service – Air Force (AIS-AF) is an Air Force unit responsible for the provision of timely, accurate, and relevant Aeronautical Information Publications (AIP) that supports Australian Defence Force (ADF) operations globally. AIS-AF is responsible for the production of both paper and digital AIP with a specific focus on Australia, Asia, and the Indo-Pacific region.The majority of work is conducted in an office environment at Victoria Barracks - Melbourne utilising proprietary design tools, geospatial databases, desktop publishing software, and standard Microsoft applications.Our Ideal CandidateAs the ideal candidate, you will be highly analytical, detail-oriented, and have a solid understanding of aviation/flight planning terminology, typically attained through relevant experience in an aviation-related role and/or relevant aviation-related studies. You will be driven to proactively develop new skills, working in a highly regulated and safety-oriented environment whilst maintaining high levels of professional integrity.You will have experience interpreting technical information relevant to international aviation standards, working collaboratively in a supportive team environment, participating in regular peer reviews of technical outputs, and using simple software (e.g., Microsoft Excel) for basic data queries.
