The duties of an APS5 Data Analyst occupation in Defence include the following (note: not all duties are required to be performed during a 12 month performance cycle): Undertake analysis to define, structure, solve and provide advice on complex data problems, including gathering and exploring data and meta-data from a variety of sources Understand and utilise analytical tools and techniques to define, structure and solve complex problems Develop and test user interfaces/experiences to achieve business outcomes Prepare, publish, and provide advice on complex data-based briefs, reports and advanced visualisations to inform Defence decision making Be responsible for the ethical use of data and interpreting and complying with legislation, Defence policy and regulatory frameworks including data management requirements Build and sustain effective relationships and negotiate with customers and key stakeholders to deliver tailored recommendations Resolve problems using knowledge, professional judgement and initiative to identify and recommend alternative courses of action Be accountable for accurate and timely completion of work and sharing own expertise with others and guiding less experienced employees Develop and maintain business domain knowledge, data analysis and visualisation skills and awareness of trends Work collaboratively, operate as an effective team member and actively participate in organisational activities About our Team The Office of the Defence Seaworthiness Regulator (ODSw R) is an independent Defence Regulator.
The ODSw R is tasked with managing the Defence Seaworthiness Management System (DSw MS), a Defence-wide maritime risk management system.
