ABOUT THE BRANCH
The Policy and Governance Branch within the Shared Services Division is responsible for driving cross-government policy and governance outcomes. As part of the Government's APS ERP Approach, the Project Management Office (PMO) has been established in the Policy and Governance Branch to support smaller non-corporate Commonwealth entities to assess ERP uplift requirements and choose solutions that best meet entity needs and budgets.
The PMO will consult with smaller entities to identify those needing a technology uplift and support them to choose a solution that best meets needs and budgets. The PMO will work with entities to prepare a consolidated budget comeback to support the required smaller entity ERP technology uplifts.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The PMO has opportunities for APS 5 & APS 6 Project Officers to join a small, supportive, high performing team. We are looking for self-motivated and proactive team players who think creatively and look for solutions to complex issues. Working in the PMO will offer high profile, cross-agency exposure. You will develop comprehensive skills in project management, stakeholder engagement, communication, whole-of-government frameworks and Cabinet processes. You will work with entities from across the Commonwealth to increase awareness of and build capability of entities ERP capabilities using technology solutions that best meet their needs.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Contributing to a small team focussed on delivering on the Government's APS ERP Approach by supporting smaller entities to identify their ERP uplift requirements and choosing technology solutions.
Providing high-quality project support to the PMO by:
Developing and maintaining project documentation in line with the PMO's agreed methodologies and processes and industry best practice.
Preparing and maintaining project status reports including identifying and raising risks, issues and barriers to delivering the intended outcomes.
Drafting of communications such as client enquiries and briefs.
Undertaking desktop research as required.
Contributing to the development and maintenance of project governance arrangements.
Organising and participating in relevant client meetings and workshops.
Supporting the development of a Business Case and Cabinet submission.
Taking responsibility to help the team meet objectives and progress and meet milestones.
Making recommendations for continuous improvement in the PDO including sharing project management expertise, mentoring and training to other staff to build team capacity.

ELIGIBILITY ADVICE & CANDIDATE NOTES
Under section 22(8) of the
Public Service Act 1999 , employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated in the downloadable job pack. All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing. Roles may be offered as either ongoing or non-ongoing subject to operational requirements. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for a specified term of up to 12 months. Specified term vacancies may be extended up to a maximum period of 18 months.
