APS5 and APS6 Events OfficerAPS 5 $55.24 / APS 6 $60.26 / Hourly Rate / 11% SuperCanberra, Deakin12-month contractAbout the clientThe Agency is seeking Event Officers (APS5 and APS6) to promote the agency's objectives.Duties of APS 5Advocate for, and enact, best practice accessibility at the events we attend to ensure all attendees have equal participation. Arrange interpreters and accessibility supports as required if they are not provided by the host already.Work with the Events leadership team to identify key opportunities for appropriate attendance at events to inform a proactive events strategy. Manage a forward planned events calendar, ensuring representation is aligned to the corporate plan and in line with the agency strategic engagement approach.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their event requirements and align event objectives with organisational goals.Oversee multiple aspects of event management simultaneously.Monitor event budgets, track expenditure, and ensure financial resources are allocated appropriately.Ensure brand consistency and engagement through best practice guidelines for printed/online event materials.Liaise with venues on event logistics and provide detailed calendar invites with all necessary information for the event.Engage with external suppliers and vendors to secure necessary resources and services.Identify potential risks, develop contingency plans, and ensure compliance with relevant policies and health and safety standards.Evaluate event success, gather feedback from attendees, and prepare comprehensive reports.Duties of APS 6Arrange interpreters and accessibility supports as required if they are not provided by the host already.Take charge of planning and organising events, including summits, conferences, workshops, seminars, and forums.Work closely with stakeholders to understand their event requirements and align event objectives with organisational goals.Oversee multiple aspects of event management simultaneously.Monitor event budgets, track expenditure, and ensure financial resources are allocated appropriately.Ensure brand consistency and engagement through best practice guidelines for printed/online event materials.Liaise with venues on event logistics and provide detailed calendar invites with all necessary information for the event.Engage with event service providers, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships to secure necessary resources and services.Identify potential risks, develop contingency plans, and ensure compliance with relevant policies and health and safety standards.Key skills requiredFor APS5 - some events experience and some digital event delivery experience – Events Air is preferred.For APS6 - 5+ years of event experience with large, complex organisations or experience working in government is beneficial.Positive attitudes towards people with disability, with a high level understanding and knowledge of disability.Relevant experience in event coordination, preferably in a large organisation setting.Strong digital experience in managing virtual and hybrid events.Strong project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.Budget management experience.Proficiency in risk assessment and management.Strong critical thinking skills and adaptability.Attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain networks.Able to negotiate effectively and present persuasive counterarguments.Desired ExperienceExperience working with EventsAir.Experience working with MS Teams in a digital event environment.Risk assessment and management experience.Application RequirementsApplicants must hold Australian citizenship.Applications close on 01/08/24.If you feel you are a suitable candidate, submit your application by hitting 'Apply for this job'.
