About the RolePersonnel and Security Support Officers play a vital role in supporting protective security operations and providing expert advice to executive and staff. This guidance aligns with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and addresses agency-specific risks. The Support Officers are integrated within the PERSEC and PHYSEC teams of the Security section.
This position presents an exciting opportunity to foster a contemporary security culture within a diverse organisation. The role may involve interstate travel and on-call duties outside of normal business hours. Candidates must exhibit the highest levels of integrity, professionalism, and impartiality while fulfilling their responsibilities.
An NV1 clearance is necessary for this role. Experience with Gallagher Security Access Control and general admin skills are desirable.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive administrative support to the Security Section, ensuring compliance with the department's obligations under the PSPF.
Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on protective security policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Facilitate the accurate collection and maintenance of Security holdings, including various security databases and the organisation's records management system.
Conduct research and analysis activities, reporting on findings.
Identify issues and contribute to their resolution.

Our Ideal CandidateTo excel in this role, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the following experience, skills, and attributes:
Strong ability to research and interpret information.
Proven capability to manage competing priorities effectively and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment, employing a positive and proactive approach to problem-solving.
Experience in executing a wide variety of Protective Security (PERSEC/PHYSEC/GOVSEC) tasks, including the analysis and assessment of detailed and sensitive information.
Familiarity with and understanding of Australian Government protective security policies and principles.
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, alongside proficiency in using technology and information management systems to achieve team outcomes.
Ability to contribute constructively to team activities and foster productive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
