APS 4 - Geospatial Search Request OfficerPosition Overview
The Geospatial Search Request Officer reports to a Senior Geospatial Specialist. The position is responsible for servicing requests from internal and external clients to undertake searches and analysis of geographic interests against native title matters.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Undertake basic geospatial analysis and searches of geographic interests against native title matters and prepare associated reports.Assist with the provision of geospatial support and services to internal and external clients and stakeholders.Ensure accurate records are maintained throughout the geospatial databases and adhere to Tribunal practices and procedures.Assist in identifying customer/stakeholder interests and needs.Prioritise and plan work effectively to meet deadlines and seeks assistance whenever required.Follow geospatial standards, policies and procedures ensuring consistency in application across the Tribunal.Engage in project based activities as required. Competencies & Attributes
The successful applicant will have experience working in a team environment and demonstrated communication and administration skills as well as the ability to undertake basic data analysis and prepare associated reports. Experience working with geospatial information, products and concepts will be an advantage.

Qualifications
This role does not require formal qualifications; however, a demonstrated interest in a spatial science discipline would be well regarded. (e.g. Geographic Information Systems, Spatial Sciences, Surveying, or Land Information Systems) 

Selection Criteria  Possesses knowledge of native title and the National Native Title Tribunal's functions and able to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders or the ability to quickly acquire this. Ability to maintain accuracy and to make sure work is completed to the required standards. Ability to effectively prioritise and manage workloads. Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate within and across teams. Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to build, develop and sustain productive relationships. Some knowledge of GIS/desktop mapping software, and Land and/or Mining tenure. Eligibility
To be eligible for employment with the Federal Court of Australia, you must be an Australian Citizen and will be required to provide proof of citizenship if you are the successful applicant.

Applicants offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a police record check and must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information.

Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.

This vacancy is advertised as an 'identified position' which means candidates are required to have an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and proven culturally appropriate engagement and communication skills.
