We are currently seeking a highly qualified Environmental Approvals Specialist to join our client's dynamic team in Perth. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and securing necessary approvals for their mining operations. This presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to sustainable initiatives and drive positive change within both the company and the wider environmental landscape. Lead the preparation and submission of environmental impact assessments, permit applications, and regulatory approvals essential for mining operations. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, government agencies, and external consultants to collect relevant data, conduct environmental studies, and address regulatory requirements. Stay abreast of evolving environmental regulations, policies, and best practices, providing strategic advice to management on potential implications for operations. Develop and implement strategies to optimise the approvals process, mitigate risks, and enhance project delivery timelines. Conduct thorough environmental risk assessments and propose mitigation measures to minimise environmental impacts and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into project planning, design, and execution. Act as a representative of the company in meetings, hearings, and consultations with regulatory authorities, community stakeholders, and industry peers. Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental approvals, permitting, or regulatory compliance, ideally within the mining or natural resources sector. Knowledge of the Pilbara environment will be a distinct advantage Profound understanding of environmental legislation, regulations, and guidelines relevant to mining operations in Western Australia. Proven track record of successfully obtaining environmental approvals and permits for large-scale projects. Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and oversee multiple projects concurrently. Strong communication and negotiation abilities, capable of effectively conveying complex technical information to diverse audiences. Demonstrated aptitude for independent work as well as collaborative engagement in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Proficiency in relevant software applications for environmental data analysis, modeling, and reporting.
