Komatsu invites passionate and enthusiastic individuals of all ages, genders, and backgrounds to embark on a rewarding journey as a Mechanical Fitting Apprentice.
We support you as you undertake four years of nationally recognised training, completing your Cert III – Engineering (Mechanical), while being paid to perfect your skills in our state-of-the-art workshops. Under the guidance of world-class tradespeople with over 25 years of experience, you'll gain hands-on experience in mechanical fitting, equipment maintenance, rebuilds, and equipment assembly.
As an Apprentice Mechanical Fitter, You will learn how to: Assemble, test, rebuild, and repair mechanical components specific to Komatsu's range of Underground mining equipment including Miners, Longwalls, Roof Supports and Shuttle cars. Learn troubleshooting of mechanical issues across Hydraulics, Machine shop, gearbox, electric motors with a rotation plan allowing you to see each workshop in detail throughout your 4 years. Read machine schematics and detailed equipment drawings. Implement and follow comprehensive safety processes and quality control measures. Gain units towards a certificate in Business, Verification of competencies on a range of hand tools and units in public speaking and Leadership. What we need from you: A genuine interest and passion for all things mechanical Willingness to learn and a strong attention to detail Driver's License and/or access to your own reliable transport to and from site. Understanding of the Komatsu Underground business and our equipment. Demonstrate a commitment to fulfilling and successfully passing all practical and theory-based study requirements of your Apprenticeship. Step 2: If deemed successful, you will be invited to complete a game-based assessment (technical, safety, personality) and undertake a phone screening with our partners at Maxwell Recruitment.
Step 3: Successful applicants will be invited to attend the local site for an interview, participate in group activities and other tasks.
Step 4: Shortlisted applicants will then be required to conduct a medical assessment, drug and alcohol screen, functional assessment, and reference checks.
Step 5: Successful applicants will receive an offer prior to proceeding to the onboarding stage.
Step 6: Congratulations! Our HR & Apprentices Co-Ordinator will prepare you for the commencement of your apprenticeship in 2025.
