Wajarri Enterprises Limited (WEL) is the Corporate Arm for the Wajarri Yamaji Group which comprises the Wajarri Yamaji Aboriginal Corporation, the Prescribed Body Corporate (PBC) for the Wajarri Yamaji People of the Gascoyne/Murchison region of Western Australia and the WWBL Trust (Winja Wajarri Barna Limited).
The Wajarri Yamaji native title determination is one of the largest in Western Australia.WEL have entered into a joint venture with Ventia to manage the SKAO Telescope Project construction camp, Nyingari Ngurra Village.
The Project is an international effort to build the world's largest and most capable radio astronomy observatory, designed to enable transformational science that will change our understanding of the universe.The Ventia WEL JV is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual of Aboriginal descent to join the culinary team at the Village as an Apprentice Chef.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about cooking and eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced kitchen environment.14 day on/7 day off roster.Meals and accommodation provided on site.Responsibilities:Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes under the guidance of experienced chefs.Follow recipes and cooking techniques to ensure high quality food is produced.Maintain a clean and organised work station.Learn and develop culinary skills through hands-on training.Assist with inventory management and stock control.Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.Attend formal classroom training to qualify for a Certificate 3 Commercial Cookery.Requirements:High School Certificate preferred.Passion for food and cooking.Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.Candidates must be willing to participate in the following:National Police CheckPre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing.Site specific SKAO inductionThis is a full time position with opportunities for growth within our organisation.
