About the role...The Apparel designers will work together to drive strategic sales growth, execute trends in a Rip Curl way and ensure continuity across fit and construction.
The Apparel Designer, supported by Head of Design and Global Product Manager, will deliver quality product fit for the Search.
The role is 12 month maternity leave contract located at our global head office in Torquay.
Day to day responsibilities include; Work with Head of Design to seasonally set overall trends, print, color and silhouette direction.
Assist in leading the creative vision for the Women's Apparel Hub at a global level, including key meetings such as Design Camp, CAD sign offs and executive reviews.
Demonstrate a strong understanding and consideration for customer segmentation in range architecture.
Ensuring balance in price, looks and silhouettes to meet the customer's demands.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of Rip Curl's edit point - her influences, behaviors, and habits to help guide discissions on trend, fit and range development Research, trial, test and execute fabrications, construction and fit into the women's business through brand pushing shapes and silhouettes Work with Product Development and suppliers to elevate quality and ensure consistency of fabrication, materials, construction, and fits.
Ultimately enhancing the perceived value in our product offering.
Work closely with the Art Hub to ensure that the seasonal vision is executed within the apparel collections.
Ensuring a shared vision across all Women's product categories.
Have a good understanding of both Knit and Woven constructions Oversee the approvals of designs through garment fittings, strike offs and colour by fabric approvals.
Make concise comments and adjustments to ensure protos reflect the initial intention of design and are of highest quality finish.
What we are searching for...You have a clear understanding of product design and development process combined with strong understanding of market trends.
Accurately predict fashion trends and implement in a timely fashion into the range.You bring demonstrated experience in the areas of garment construction, trim execution, designing to a FOB and fabrications.
The ability to work both solely on required task as well as being a team player is required along with ability to meet deadline with competing priorities.
Extensive knowledge of design cads using Illustrator and Photoshop is required.
An understanding and belief in the Rip Curl brand, its customers and its values will ensure you design great apparel for our target customer.
