The Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Lead - Community Liaison to join us in our Planning and Environment team in Perth, Port Hedland or Newman on a full-time permanent basis.
Reporting to the Planning and Environment Manager, you will build community and stakeholder relationships, using respect, trust and integrity as core values, and deliver social performance outcomes to support delivery of APA's projects in the Pilbara. You will also be required to develop and implement tailored and meaningful community engagement and social performance strategies.
Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain strong, respectful relationships with community members, community groups, First Nations people and businesses, local businesses, government and other stakeholders to support the delivery of projects. Advise and support project teams to ensure a consistent approach to community and stakeholder engagement and consultation, including undertaking Socio-economic Impact Assessments with consideration of First Nations business and local business procurement targets and social investment initiatives. Develop and implement project specific Community and Social Performance Engagement Strategies and Engagement Plans to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Manage the development, coordination and delivery of project engagement activities and communication materials that are fit for purpose, culturally appropriate and inclusive. Your background Several years' experience in a similar community liaison role (preferably gained in the infrastructure, mining, gas or other resources sector) Tertiary qualifications in social science, communications, anthropology, environmental management, planning or another related field Experience working respectfully and in a culturally appropriate way with First Nations communities, businesses and organisations The ability and willingness to travel (semi-regularly) to remote regions of the Pilbara Demonstrated ability and skills in developing and implementing community engagement programs as well as working with First Nations businesses and local businesses to develop and meet procurement targets. About the Team The Planning and Environment Team reports to the Head of Development, Pilbara Energy Solutions and is focused primarily on the development of large-scale renewable energy projects and associated transmission infrastructure in the Pilbara. The team is involved from ideation through construction and is responsible for planning and securing all land access and approvals to facilitate construction commencement in a manner that ensures positive social and stakeholder relationships and community outcomes.
