Why this role mattersThe Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Education and Support Worker will work towards reducing alcohol and other drug use related harm by delivering a young person centred, high quality and safe case management and care coordination approach.
The Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Education and Support Worker will improve the health, well-being and social outcomes of young people by delivering alcohol and other drug support interventions to both young people accommodated at The Salvation Army Karratha Youth Accommodation Service and those young people in the wider community.
About the roleWe are seeking a values-driven AOD Education Support Worker who will provide education around AOD use and harm reduction through a flexible case management model to young people aged between 15-25 within the region of Karratha.
This model is underpinned by trauma-informed care.
This is a full-time, permanent position located in Karratha, WA.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Level 4. Key responsibilitiesDevelop and deliver a safe and supportive AOD education and support programme
Undertake activities to achieve key outcomes of the AOD education and support programme
Actively build networks with specialist AOD and mental health services in the community and provide young people with warm referrals to these services as appropriate
Attend and complete all training and professional development opportunities through The Salvation Army and the Mental Health Commission pertaining to the role
The ideal candidate would haveMinimum Certificate III in AOD, community services, youth work or similar (other relevant qualifications/lived experience within AOD, community services, youth work, social work or similar discipline will be considered)
Previous experience in case work or a similar role, providing case management to vulnerable young people from diverse backgrounds
Previous experience in an AOD field is desirable
Valid WA Working With Children's Check
Current and unrestricted WA Driver's Licence
A National Police Check Record (TSA will complete through recruitment process)
