Government - State (Government & Defence)
The client is the engineers for government investment in skills and training for Queenslanders.
With an annual skills investment budget of over $1B, the team develops and manages responsive programs and policies to ensure skills and training in Queensland is tailored to meet current and future workforce needs.
This includes implementation of innovative programs, engaging Skills Assure Suppliers to provide quality training in priority areas and playing a lead role in Vocational Education and Training (VET) market oversight.
The team works closely with other branches of the department and other government agencies to develop whole of government responses and solutions focused on providing priority skills in existing and emerging industries and supporting all Queenslanders into good jobs.
The division InvestmentThe division ensures planned investment in quality training and employment programs, infrastructure, policy, and system is targeted and responsive to the current needs and future plans of Queensland's industry, employers, and individuals.
They do this by providing design evaluation and monitoring services.
The division is comprised of Skills Investment, Program Investment, and Infrastructure Investment branches.
Key responsibilities As the Program Officer you will:
Assist in the effective delivery of government vocational education and training programs/strategies.Contribute to the operational management of Skills Investment's strategies and programs.Contribute to the development and coordination of programs which contribute to the achievement of Skills Investment's goals and objectives.What we are looking for We'll assess your merit for this role by looking at what you've done previously - the knowledge, skills, and experience you've built, your potential for development, and your personal qualities.
The position requires an applicant who can:
Provide advice and support to senior management on matters associated with contracted providers and stakeholders.Communicate and liaise effectively with a network of internal and external stakeholders on new and existing contractual or program requirements and responsibilities.Research and prepare executive/ministerial correspondence and briefing papers on matters relating to training issues, including program management.Contribute to the development of operational policy to ensure the achievement of a high standard of performance and current knowledge in program management.Administer Skills Assure Supplier applications, variations, and audit outcomes including necessary program improvements.Administer payments, reconciliations, travel bookings, and other administrative tasks.Proactively contribute to the achievement of divisional objectives by encouraging an environment where high quality work is achieved and supported by adherence to quality systems.Plan, facilitate and monitor emerging challenges and issues as necessary to support VET Investment goals and objectives.While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, practical experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
