Troocoo are working with QLD Government on the recruitment of an AO5 Media Officer to join the team on a contract role through to May 2025. Joining a super collaborative team working on some great projects this is a role not to be missed!
Reporting to the Principal Media Advisor of the Department's Media and Communication unit, you will work as part of a small and dynamic team to provide media services, including proactive and reactive media, social media, speeches and more. In this fast-paced role you will have the opportunity to work with a broad range of senior departmental officers to successfully promote the work of the department and manage its reputation.
Key Duties and Accountabilities in this role include;
Developing and delivering contemporary, high-quality media materials and activities, including media releases, media opportunities, ministerial statements and supporting social media, both independently and as part of a team. Working collaboratively with other members of the Media and Communication team on the planning and implementation of strategic media activities. Liaising with and develop strong, positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including media, government, industry and community stakeholders and organisations. Working with internal client areas to identify and develop proactive mainstream and social media opportunities. Providing media advice to departmental business clients. Manage media enquiries (including writing responses, quickly) To be considered for this role you will have demonstrated experience in a similar role, and you will be motivated and results-driven with excellent relationship and written communication skills, attention to detail and time management. It is preferred if you have relevant qualification in a communication related area (i.e. Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing) and demonstrated experience in a media environment is highly desirable. Prior experience working within a Government environment would also be an advantage in this role.
