Our valued State Government client is seeking an AO4 Workplace Health and Safety Officer to join their team in Brisbane immediately.The primary purpose of the Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Officer role is to provide workplace health and safety (WHS) advice, service and assistance to the department, including a diverse range of WHS activities and technical matter relating to operational activities, health programs, WHS initiatives, WHS system / processes, and rehabilitation and return to work.The role works closely with the WHS Manager by implementing and monitoring state-wide WHS matters within a diverse team of building, construction and maintenance field and office staff.As the WHS Officer, your duties will include: Interpret WHS legislation, including relevant legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards / International Standards and provide WHS advice on technical matterSupport return-to-work activities including reviewing and developing suitable duties plans, reviewing of medical certificates and rehabilitation activities for example, ergonomic assessments and organising OT assessmentsAssisting with organising / conducting planning actions for whole of business improvement initiative, such as organising and coordinating statewide WHS training and assisting with organising safety culture activitiesAs instructed conduct site WHS&E audits and inspectionsAssist with reporting and investigating WHS&E incidents and contractor notifiable incidents.Assist with coordinating emergency planning and response activitiesCoordinating the delivery of Departmental health and safety programsAssist the WHS Manager on WHS matters including reporting and planning, coordination of WHS events, maintaining the SHE Audit schedule and WHS Hub page.To be successful in this role, you will have:Previous experience in a similar roleExperience in the Construction Industry will be highly regardedAvailability to start immediately in a roleExcellent written communication skillsHigh level time management and organisational skillsThis role offers an hourly rate of $54.34 + Super, an initial 6-week engagement with a possibility of an extension and centralised office location.Applicants new to DFP may be asked to provide additional information including work rights status via a survey link – if requested, we ask that you provide this information in order to expedite your application.DFP welcomes applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and people with disability.
