Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland's Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.
Dawson is located at the southern end of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, being just over a 2hrs drive west from either Rockhampton or Gladstone, or 4.5hrs drive north of the Darling Downs or South Burnett.
Job Description We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner Scheduler to assist the Field Mechanical team with developing mechanical maintenance strategies, arranging weekly down days, and managing secondary work.
With interactions across various departments, you will require solid written and verbal communication skills, enjoy solving maintenance problems, and be an effective team player.
To be successful in this role, you will ensure compliance with all Anglo American safety and operating systems and a commitment to working together as part of a capable, friendly, and professional team to achieve business objectives. You will also enjoy the challenge of maintaining an array of different machines from 500t excavators down to 20t Excavators along with Overburden drills, reviewing and implementing preventative maintenance, and managing small projects.

Qualifications You will need to possess a mechanical trade qualification and experience in large open-cut mining operations, specifically the maintenance of Excavators and Overburden Drills. Previous planning experience, and a well-developed understanding of Excavator and Drill maintenance strategies. Ability to focus on long-term solutions, ongoing innovation, maintenance costs, and workplace efficiencies. Knowledge in Microsoft Programs, SAP, Obzervr, Link One, and OEM parts systems are highly desirable.
