Join Our Team
AMLab is seeking a talented and driven Software Developer who has a passion for analysing and improving operational processes to join our dynamic team. If you have a passion for data analytics, a keen eye for detail, and thrive in fast-paced environments, we want to hear from you!
Reporting to the Lead Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining analytics tools that provide insights into operational performance, identifying delays and inefficiencies, and automating the analysis process. This role is essential for scaling our technology globally, taking existing and successful analytics solutions and adapting them for deployment across different sites with varied operational needs and control infrastructures. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including internal development, operations, and external (site) engineering, to ensure our analytics solutions are accurate, actionable, and integral to improving the performance of our systems. This is a full-time position offering competitive compensation (including participation in the tech scale-up's equity), accelerated career development, and the chance to work on state-of-the-art technology that makes a real impact in the container shipping industry. Flexible hours and working location available but regular time in the office is required. About the role:
In this role, you will contribute to the success of our automation solutions by leveraging your expertise in data analytics in Python, and operational performance analysis. You would have a drive to dive deep into performance statistics to understand why delays happen, root causes of inefficiencies and understanding the interplay between human factors and machine issues. You will be expected to develop analytics tools that are robust, efficient, and aligned with operational KPIs of various sites.
Develop and maintain operational analytics tools using Python, focusing on detailed analysis of crane performance, including identifying delays and inefficiencies. Automate the data analysis process to provide real-time insights and recommendations for performance improvements, helping to streamline operations and reduce downtime. Create and maintain thorough documentation for all analytics tools, including change notifications, data processing pipelines, and user manuals. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and operations teams, to understand project requirements and deliver tailored analytics solutions. Evaluate and integrate new data sources, ensuring comprehensive analysis capabilities and enhancing the overall performance monitoring of our systems. Develop and implement algorithms and models that provide predictive insights into crane operations, helping to forecast potential issues and optimize performance. Ensure all analytics tools are designed to relevant safety standards and data privacy regulations. Any other duties assigned by the manager. Whom we're looking for: Minimum 2 years of experience in software development in Python (including libraries like pandas, matplotlib, numpy), with a strong background and interest in data analysis of equipment in industrial settings. Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science or Engineering. Proficiency in developing and implementing data pipelines, and data visualization tools. Demonstrated experience in creating detailed technical documentation, including data processing specifications and testing protocols. Proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments, managing multiple projects and priorities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing system inefficiencies. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to achieve common goals. A strong understanding of statistical analysis and experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) is a plus. Be part of a forward-thinking tech scale-up that values innovation, teamwork, and the drive to make a difference in the shipping industry. Work with state-of-the-art technology and contribute to impactful projects that shape the future of automation in container ports. Enjoy a supportive work environment with opportunities for growth, learning, and career advancement. If you're ready to make an impact and be part of a forward-thinking team, apply now!  Your application will include the following questions: Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in Australia?
