Department Overview
Instinet's technology is as diverse as it is innovative, incorporating industry-leading technologies to service the ever-evolving and dynamic global financial markets industry. The Customer Service Centre (CSC) team is our highly skilled, technical, and client-facing team within Instinet spanning across India, Australia and its main hub, Hong Kong. The team provides trading technology support to Instinet's electronic trading, portfolio trading and high-touch sales teams across the region.
Role Description
At Instinet, we put our clients and users of our execution trading platform first. The financial industry is always changing, and we need Trading Support Analysts who are passionate about tackling technology and workflow problems that lead to the best customer experience. In this client-facing role, you will have the opportunity to learn about the trading workflows of an international agency-only broker and build your understanding of the APAC markets. Based in Sydney, Australia, your primary coverage will be of the Australia and New Zealand markets, building your knowledge and skillset to support traders and technology teams whilst maintaining our core trading platform. This is an exciting opportunity to learn about our high-performance trading technology, the business workflows we support and to be a part of an inclusive, close-knit and success driven team. You will also work with development, product and business users to deliver stability, control and trading solutions to our core trading platform. You can interpret, diagnose, and define problems, apply creativity and critical thinking with a thirst for learning about technology and its application in trading. Above all, you are a team-player with the ability to communicate ideas/solutions clearly and concisely to your teammates with a passionate drive to follow your curiosity and improve the trading platform.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide first-line support coverage of the AU/NZ markets.
Understand financial markets, technology, trading applications and the trade lifecycle in depth.
Apply project management and business analysis skills to plan and solve business challenges.
Work collaboratively with regional and global teams as needed across trading, technology, risk and compliance to deliver strategic and client-driven solutions for some of the largest and most prestigious institutional clients in the industry.
Stay current with financial and technological trends, regulations and best practices in the firm.
Monitor, analyze and maintain the health of the Instinet core trading platform.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University or equivalent experience
Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Trading System Analyst.
Experience working with the IRESS vendor/platform.
Proficient in Unix and Python scripting.
Solid understanding of cash equities market, software and trading lifecycles.
Familiarity with FIX protocols and full stack development would be an advantage.
Ability to operate autonomously (we don't like to micro-manage).
Excellent communication and presentation skills with a strong command of the English language.
Strong team player with willingness to teach and learn from others.
