Senior Officer Standards West $98,528 - $117,647 + 15.4% super Perth based Ongoing Join a small team to sustain and develop aviation search and rescue capabilitiesSupportive and collaborative work environment which offers flexible work, health and wellbeing benefits, and paid Christmas shutdownEngage with operators and stakeholders across WA and SA with frequent planned travel to support AMSA's workABOUT THE ROLE The Senior Officer Standards role contributes primarily to the safe and effective delivery of AMSA responsibilities in search and rescue (SAR).
As part of a team of four that provides national coverage, you will participate in audits, training, development, liaison both internally and externally, and accurate record-keeping.
The Senior Officer Standards will require aviation experience, a SAR or emergency service background and completion of a HUET course.
The role requires frequent planned travel on aircraft for SAR auditing and training, and we will provide an annual travel plan to provide you as much notice as possible.
Note, the majority of the travel plan is flexible around the individual's requirements, with most trips being 2 to 4 days long.
At AMSA we provide a supportive, collaborative and flexible working environment.
This role requires 3 days per fortnight in the office, with the rest as WFH if desired.
You will be responsible for: Auditing standards and contractual compliance for our contracted aircraft and equipmentVisits to opportunity aircraft operators across Western Australia and South AustraliaTraining for air search observers in WARotating on-call responsibilities and occasional out of hours or short notice requestsParticipating as part of the broader team in the development of capabilitySKILLS AND EXPERIENCE To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:
Experience and understanding of flight operations, and desirably also of maritime operationsExperience in training, assessing and/or auditing individual and organisational performance, ideally in an operational environmentDemonstrated ability to develop and maintain operational standards and training documentationDemonstrated communication/relationship and stakeholder management skillsAbility to self-motivate and work independentlyExperience working in SAR or with the emergency or related servicesFor more information about this role, please refer to the position description.
