BR Payroll Compliance Manager, LATAM Payroll Compliance The Payroll Compliance Manager assumes the primary responsibility for overseeing compliance efforts to ensure the highest level of compliance by working actively to discover, inform and resolve payroll compliance risks.
Key job responsibilities
The scope of this role is concerned with all legislation areas where there is an external regulator enforcing or monitoring payroll compliance. This scope includes federal tax, state/local tax, social security, pension plan, garnishments/alimonies, regulatory audits and notices. The Payroll Compliance Manager serves as the initial point of contact for Payroll Operations teams regarding any enquiries related to payroll processes impacting Amazon Payroll's compliance posture. Provides preventive and corrective support when there is a compliance problem to solve. In addition, this role collaborates with broader Amazon Payroll teams, for example: Controllership, Program Delivery, Learning & Experience and Vendor Management. The support also extends to coordinating activities with teams outside of Global Payroll such as Labor & Employment Counsel, Tax, Business Mobility Solutions, Stock, Benefits and HR ("PXT"). This role will leverage external consultants to help with topic education, case analysis and solution deployment. Also, the role will require learning of Amazon's processes and constantly study the ever-changing tax laws.
A day in the life
- Acts like an owner and steps in to help anytime there is an issue by using thought leadership to ensure teams are taking the appropriate steps to resolve the issue.
- Develops solutions whilst working backwards from the customer.
- Drives the use of best practices, handles complex problems, efforts, decisions, and escalations, mitigates short- and long-term risks.
- Constantly collaborates with internal teams to have high standards when performing activities like tax registrations, tax filings or large tax reconciliations.
- Manages the constant challenges in the payroll tax space and seeks to resolve by never compromising standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field.
- 6+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience.
- Advanced experience and knowledge of Brazilian payroll regulations: income tax IRFF, social security contributions INSS, severance and pension fund FGTS, work accident insurance RAT, E-social, DET, CBA, REINF/DCTFweb, DIRF.
- Ability to present to leaders on payroll compliance and operational issues in a manner that simplifies complex problems and clearly presents recommendations to solving compliance challenges.
- Languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese.
- Onsite assistance is required 5 times per week.
- Technical skills covering compensation and benefits, mobility, banking and data privacy.
