8-12 hours/week (1-2 days) currently available with the possibility of additional hours during staff leave.
The casual role is primarily based on the 32-bed inpatient hospital unit and involves patient-related duties in the areas of communication, social connection, and swallowing. The role also involves general administrative duties, resource development, and assisting with departmental projects. You will work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. The role contributes greatly to our patient-centred "Staying Connected" program.
Your main duties will include:
Providing support for inpatients to access technology (personal devices and loan iPad program) as a key role in the 'Staying Connected' program on the 32-bed inpatient unit.Assisting with developing individualised communication support (low tech aids or high tech set-up) as directed by Speech Pathologists.Providing mealtime support to inpatients as delegated by Speech Pathologists.About you Allied Health Assistant qualification or relevant undergraduate degree.Demonstrated and ongoing entitlement to work in Australia.Hospital experience is preferred.Excellent communication skills and ability to converse with patients in a hospital setting.Computer/technology literate and confident technology user (smartphones, iPads, tablets, etc).About Calvary Health Care Bethlehem We are a tertiary provider of specialist multidisciplinary care for those living with progressive neurological and palliative conditions (e.g., Motor Neurone Disease and Huntington's disease) across the state of Victoria. Our team works within a neuropalliative rehabilitation framework and aims to provide best practice assessment and holistic care for patients with progressive neurological diseases and their families, across the disease trajectory. We offer inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services.
