Silver Porcupine Occupational Therapy Services is looking for an Allied Health Assistant to join the team!
Silver Porcupine Occupational Therapy Services is a fast-growing paediatric occupational therapy business. We are passionate about empowering independence to children and families to create a sense of well-being and fulfilment to engage in all aspects of life. We provide a mobile-based occupational therapy service supporting children within their natural environments across the Hunter Valley, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Upper Hunter regions.
We are preferably seeking a 4th year Occupational Therapy undergraduate, though will consider a 3 rd year to the right applicant. The position is part-time with the potential for full-time employment upon successful completion of Occupational Therapy degree/registration.
The position is based within the Hunter Valley region – Cessnock/Maitland LGA's.
About the Role
Developing therapy resources
Provide a play-based, fun approach to therapy to facilitate function and improve capacity while following an OT developed program
Working one-on-one with clients within their natural environments to support them to reach their goals. You will be working with children and young people with varying conditions and disabilities such as ASD, attentional difficulties, sensory processing disorder, developmental delays, motor disorders and mental health issues
Regular supervision and support to get the experience you need for your future graduate career
The successful applicant will be driven, able to work autonomously and willing to learn
Remuneration is based on Health Professionals and Support Services Award – Support Services Level 4-6
Role Requirements
Be passionate about supporting children and young people
Preferably 4th Year Occupational Therapy undergraduate, though will consider 3rd Year undergraduate
Current Working with Children Check, NSW Police Check and first aid certification
Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
Friendly, positive attitude and an ethical approach to working with families and varied cultures
Strong time management skills
Ability to work both independently and within a growing team
Current Drivers Licence and own vehicle (Travel costs are reimbursed)
