Enthusiastic students who are currently completing an Allied Health Professional degree such as Occupational Therapy or are studying a Certificate in Allied Health Assistance are invited to apply for a casual Allied Health Assistant (AHA) role at BRHS. This role offers a great opportunity to gain experience in your field of study and exposure to the operations of a large, multifaceted organisation.
As a casual Grade One AHA you will provide support to our Allied Health team during peak periods that coincide with your availability. You will work under the direct supervision of the relevant Allied Health Professional performing general duties to support the Allied Health team in maintaining a high quality service. Tasks will include monitoring clients to ensure programs are being followed effectively, preparing equipment, monitoring supplies and materials, and performing administrative duties.
The BRHS Allied Health service delivers clinical and support services in Dietetics; Occupational Therapy; Physiotherapy; Podiatry; Speech Pathology; and Social Work with our AHA team working in rotational positions across the department. Applications from tertiary students who are completing studies in any of these disciplines will be prioritised.
Key criteria required includes: A tertiary student currently enrolled in an Undergraduate Allied Health Profession degree or a Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance.Demonstrated knowledge of the physical and psychological aspects of rehabilitation care.An understanding of the allied health assistant role in supporting one of the following areas: Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Podiatry, or Dietetics.Well-developed verbal and written communication skills to enable effective liaison within a multi-disciplinary team.Demonstrated flexible approach to service delivery with a willingness to undertake a range of clinical and non-clinical duties.Demonstrated positive manner with the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a team environment.Please view the full key selection criteria in the position description.
